So Mary Agnes in “Godless” is awesome for many reasons (e. g. wearing trousers, speaking up against men and their bullshit on multiple occasions, going back to her maiden name after her husband’s death because she doesn’t feel like carrying his name around any longer, organising the strategic defence of an entire town, tbc ...), but her most awesome moment is when she tells off that private investigator or whatever he is who is looking for Martha.

Because at that point, Mary Agnes is angry and hurt, mistakenly thinking Ms Dunne - her girlfriend - is having an affair with Martha ... but now this stranger turns up, searching for Martha to return her to her husband who she apparently ran away from. And Mary Agnes immediately tells him that Martha’s gone, that she left a week ago and if he’s lucky he can catch up with her at the other end of the country. It doesn’t even cross her mind to sell Martha out to him, even if that would mean to get rid of the woman who seems to be getting in between herself and Ms Dunne. But NO. The moment she understands that stranger wants to take Martha against her will, Mary Agnes enters full protection mode and has Martha’s back, no questions asked and all personal feelings aside. AWESOME. It’s female solidarity at it’s finest and we love to see it.
